Talbinah als suhoor tijdens de Ramadan

Suhoor ideas for Ramadan: 7 simple options

Suhoor is the pre-dawn meal during Ramadan. The Prophet ﷺ said: “Take suhoor, for in suhoor there is barakah (blessing).” (Bukhari & Muslim). But what do you eat at 4 am when you are hardly hungry? Here are 7 ideas.

1. Talbinah with dates

A warm bowl of barley porridge, sweetened with honey and finished with dates. Quick, soft and easy to eat, even when you have just woken up. And you follow a Sunnah. See the recipe.

2. Talbinah with Sunnah Mix

The same porridge with a spoonful of Sunnah Mix: fig, date, walnut, coconut, black seed and red berries in one spoon. Tip: make the porridge the evening before and warm it up at night. Or get the value bundle.

3. Greek yoghurt with honey and nuts

No cooking needed. Yoghurt, a little honey and a handful of walnuts or almonds. Ready in one minute.

4. Eggs with wholemeal bread

Boil eggs the evening before. With a slice of wholemeal bread and some cucumber you have a complete meal.

5. Overnight oats or overnight talbinah

The evening before, mix oats or cooked talbinah with milk and put it in the fridge. At night it is ready to eat.

6. Dates, water and fruit

For those who really cannot eat much: a few dates, a glass of water and a piece of fruit such as a banana.

7. Lentil soup from iftar

Leftover soup from iftar? A small bowl of warm soup makes a fine suhoor.

Tips for a better suhoor

  • Drink enough water between iftar and suhoor.
  • Prepare the evening before so it is easier at night.
  • Keep it simple: something small is better than skipping suhoor.

Ramadan is getting closer. Make sure you have Talbinah at home in time.
